Dear Members and Friends of Springdale Presbyterian Church,

For several years now Springdale Presbyterian Church has offered two worship services on Sunday morning: a Celebration Worship Service at 8:30 and a Traditional Service at 11:00. During the summer months of 2011 our community of faith has gathered for just one worship service each Sunday. This service has been held at 10:00 and has blended elements from the Traditional and Celebration Services, with both the choir and the praise team leading the congregation in song.

During this time, several of you have shared how meaningful these summer worship services have been. Seeing old friends, making new ones, and experiencing different ways of relating to the gospel has been refreshing to many. The fellowship hour has extended well beyond the usual amount of time with people lingering in laughter and deep conversation. And, because the sanctuary has been closer to capacity on these Sundays, visitors to our church experience a stronger sense of vitality.

Your session met for a called meeting on Sunday, August 7. For the reasons cited above the session of Springdale Presbyterian Church decided to extend the practice of offering one worship service for the time being. This service will continue to blend styles from the Celebration and Traditional Services and be held at 10:00 on Sunday mornings.

Your session feels this is the best way to maintain the positive energy which has taken hold over the summer and to open the way for further growth in the future. Additionally, we see this as an invitation for all members of Springdale Presbyterian to renew their worship and devotion practices.

Opportunities for spiritual growth will be offered before and after the worship service. Our Spiritual Nurture Ministry Team is also working on other ideas including, but not limited to, small groups and other gatherings on different days of the week. There are so many new and innovative models for nurturing the faith of members of all ages. This gives us a chance to explore some of them together.
