Session

The Session is the council that leads the congregation. The elders with the pastors make up the Session. Here are our current Session members:

Sarah Abraham

Worship Ministry Team, class of 2012, ordained in 2010. Sarah has been a member at Springdale since 2007. She and her husband, Greg Buelt, have been married for 25 years and have three children. Sarah is currently active in the Women's Bible Study and serves in the church office.  She also volunteers with AARP Tax-Aide, CASA, and Triton Swimming. At previous churches Sarah has served as Interim Children's Ministry Director, Sunday School Supervisor, Vacation Bible School coordinator, Church Council member, and Library organizer.

Pam Brashear


Email Pam Brashear

Fellowship Ministry Team, class of 2012, ordained in 2010. Pam has been a member of SPC for 35 years, and during that time has been involved in Bible School, Fellowship and Hospitality Committees, Evening Circle, Frozen Assets, and served as a “friend” for many years as a part of the Caregivers Committee. She and her husband, Glenn, have been married for 44 years; and one of their greatest joys and blessings is their son and daughter and their families, including three grandchildren, live here in Louisville. After decades away from teaching while caring for her family, Pam returned as a clinician in reading, spelling and comprehension at The Langsford Center, from which she retired a few years ago.

Cathy Hagan

Class of 2013, has been a member of Springdale for 14 years, working with the youth as well as teaching church school. She and her husband, Tim, have three daughters - Laura, Rachel and Samantha - who are all active in the Church. Over the years she has worked primarily in retail with an Interior Design background. Presently she works in a Hallmark store and enjoys working with people.

Tim Hagan


Email Tim Hagan

Personnel Ministry Team, class of 2012, ordained 2010. Tim and his wife Cathy, along with their three daughters have attended Springdale since 1996. He has a special interest in the youth of the church, supports the PYC in as many ways as possible, and has been a chaperone on two mission trips to Eastern Kentucky with the youth. Tim is a member of the sound tech crew, serves as a liturgist and usher, and has been a speaker at church school classes. He has been a member of the handbell choir, and shared his music skills as he played French horn and provided percussion accompaniment and directed choirs for special events. Tim is a former band director who since 1998 has served as the principal at Jane Hite Elementary in Middletown.

Mark Holsclaw

Communications Ministry Team, class of 2012, ordained 2010. Mark has been an active member of Springdale for over 40 years and has served on numerous committees. He recently retired as National Sales Manager of Hague Water Intl. He and his wife recently opened B CHIC Consignment & Boutique on Bardstown Rd. Mark attends regularly with his wife, Angela; they have three children.

Cynthia Hoey

Spiritual Nurture Ministry Team, class of 2012, ordained 2010. Cynthia has been a member of SPC for three years. Her church involvement at previous churches and SPC includes music ministry, dance ministry, Christian Education/church school and VBS teacher, Mothers, Marriage, and Family Ministry, short term missions, and Congregational Care. She has worked as a physical therapist, but is currently a stay-at-home mom. She and her husband, Eric, who is Director of Evangelism and Church Growth for the General Assembly Mission Council of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)., have four children, who are all actively involved at SPC.

Timothy Hoey

Communications Ministry Team, class of 2011, ordained 2010. Timothy has been attending Springdale since 2008. He is a senior at Oldham County High School where he is on the soccer and swim teams and plays the clarinet in the band. He was part of the Nashville and Jamaican mission trips with Springdale and is active in the Presbyterian Youth Connection. He is serving as a youth elder.

Ainsley Jones


Email Ainsley Jones

class of 2013, is the son of Bea Jones, who have been elders at Springdale. He first came to Springdale nearly 30 years ago, then returned and reaffirmed his membership in 2010. He has worked as an editor in the online publishing industry for almost a decade. He also serves at the American Red Cross. Ainsley is active with the young adults at Springdale and teaches the High School church school class.

Gerry Leet


Email Gerry Leet

Fellowship Ministry Team, class of 2011,ordained in 2000. Gerry was born in Lancaster, Pa. Gerry, part of the handbell choir, has been a church school teacher and has taught the confirmation class. In her previous term on session she served on the Congregational Care Ministry Team. She describes her call “to live out my faith through service within the Springdale community and outside the walls.” Gerry is a retired social worker; she was the Director of Social Services at the Presbyterian Homes of Louisville. She now volunteers at EACM and is an Everyone Reads tutor. She and her husband, Milt, have two grown children and four grandchildren. Gerry enjoys reading, golf, sewing/quilting, and traveling.

Barb Link

Congregational Care Ministry Team, class of 2012. Barb joined Springdale in January 2001. She is a member of the adult choir, the Congregational Care Ministry Team, Day Circle and the Women's Bible Study. She and her husband, Leo, have been married for 40 years; they have two and 35 foster children and a granddaughter with a grandson. Barb is a retired teacher from Oldham County but continues to tutor. Barb also does calligraphy.

Leah Link-Ulrich

Personnel Ministry Team, class 2012. Leah joined SPC in 2001 and has been singing with the adult choir ever since.  She works for Social Security as an attorney.  Leah and her husband, Richard, have been married for five years and and have a son.

Martha Long


Email Martha Long

Class of 2013. Martha and her husband, Tom, joined Springdale after moving from the Gulf Coast of Alabama six years ago. They moved to Louisville to be near family including her granddaughters. Martha is a retired public school special education administrator who loves music and sings in SPC’s adult choir. She has served as an Elder in other churches and as a Stephen Leader & Minister. She serves on the coordinating team of Living Waters for the World – Appalachia, serves communion at the Presbyterian Homes, and is an active member of the Presbyterian Women’s Evening Circle.

Sandy McWilliams

Membership Ministry team, class of 2012, ordained 2010. Sandy McWilliams and her family joined Springdale Presbyterian Church in 1990. She has been a church school teacher and has been actively involved as a Girl Scout leader. Her family includes husband Terry, who owns an investor communications business; they have 4 children and two grandchilden. A native of Pennsville, N.J., Sandy is a speech-language pathologist in the Jefferson County Public Schools. She is also an outdoor enthusiast.

Karen Miller

Class of 2013. Karen has been a member of Springdale since 1982. She and her husband, Tom, have two daughters and four grandchildren. She has been a choir member eight years and is a member of Presbyterian Women’s Evening Circle and the Congregational Care team. For the past two years she has helped with Camp Presto and other educational opportunities for the children of Springdale. She is retired from teaching Language Arts to middle-schoolers in Oldham County which allows her to be a member of two book clubs, travel and knit. 

Charles Murphy

Class of 2013. Better known as “Murph,” he has attended Springdale for over 30 years. He and his wife, Peggy have one daughter and a son-in-law. Murph has served on Building and Grounds, participated in Habitat for Humanity and helped with setting up and breaking down many of the gatherings over the years. He enjoys hunting, fishing and whatever his wife wants him to do!!!!

Greg Nickels

Building and Grounds Ministry Team, class of 2011, ordained in the 1970s. Greg was born and raised in Louisville. He has been a member of Springdale since 1964 and helps lead the Issues church school Class. Greg’s sense of call is to bring all closer to God. He is President of Automatic Air Corporation. He and his wife, Angela, have two children (Ronny and Shauna), and three dogs. He enjoys the outdoors and lives in a wooded area. He also enjoys woodworking and sports.

Dale Darby

Dayle Darby came to Springdale in 2000, became an affiliate member in 2002 and joined in 2011. She is a member of the choir – she has sung in a choir since 5th grade - and serves as the choir librarian/secretary and on the Congregational Care ministry team, helps with the refugee families, has helped in the church office as needed, and has worked with the Frozen Assets ministry and EACM Christmas tree. Dayle has been a Deacon and Elder at her former church in Michigan, where she also served on the PNC. She is a retired English and Psychology teacher and was chairman as well as a counselor of the Gerholz Christian Counseling Center.

Mark Hinds

Email Mark Hinds

Mark Hinds joined Springdale in 2009. He has taught Sunday school and sung with the Praise Team and choir. Mark currently serves the PCUSA as general editor for curriculum development. He has also been a pastor, youth director, church educator, church musician, and high school choir director. He recently married Peggy Owens. They have four children between them - Sarah, Ami, David and Will.

Angie Revell

Email Angie Revell

Angie Revell joined Springdale in 2003. She and her husband, Tom, have three children – Courtney, Alex and Ethan; she is the daughter-in-law to Don and Susan Revell. Angie serves on the Finance and Fellowship ministry teams, has taught Church school, played with the Carillon handbell choir and has been the Church Treasurer. She has worked as a controller for many years and is currently employed part-time for a local CPA firm.

Kenny Pritchett

Kenny Pritchett and his wife, Jenny, have been members of Springdale since 2001; their son, Nate, joined in 2005. Kenny did not grow up in the church. He started attending services in the mid-90s and has been a member of churches in the following faiths: Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian and "Seeker" (or non-denominational). He retired in 2008 after 25 years with GE Appliances serving in executive positions in sales, marketing, product management, Six Sigma Quality, consumer service & parts distribution, transportation, and president of an affiliate company.

Mark Hebert

Mark Hebert and his wife, Lisa, have been members of Springdale since 1996. Their two children - Allison and Andrew – are also members of Springdale. Mark has taught Church school – three-year old class, nursery, and has led the Issues Class with Greg Nickels for over eight years – and started the Hope Springs Eternal group with Grace Hope. He is involved in the Adopt-A-Highway. Mark was a reporter for WHAS-TV for 22 years before leaving to become the Director of Media Relations at UofL in 2009.

Deb Hibberd

Deb Hibberd has been a member of Springdale since 2002. She currently serves on the Building and Grounds ministry team, ushers, delivers meals to shut-in members, and is involved with Habitat. She formerly served on the Parish Council & Booster Board as a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Deb has been a realtor with Semonin for over 23 years and her husband, Paul, is an attorney. They have five grown children - Matt, Anne, Lynn, Traci and Chris – a four year old grandson, Connor, and two grandchildren on the way!

George Sherrard

Finance Ministry Team, ordained in 1980. George is from Alpha, Ill. He has served three terms as an elder – at Springdale Presbyterian Church and New Goshen Presbyterian Church. At Springdale he has served on the Finance Ministry Team, nominating committee. At both churches he was involved with various small groups and the choir. He is called to a life of love and service, using God given talents to build Christ’s Church. George is retired from actuarial work in financial reporting at Capital Holding/Providian/AEGON where he worked for 26 years. He and his wife, Kay, have three grown children (Eric, Mark & Jennifer) and two grandchildren (Robbie & Benjamin) and one grandchild on the way. He raised West Highland White Terriers for 35 years. He now travels, enjoys photography, gardening and reading.

Richard Trautwein

Congregational Care Ministry Team, class of 2011, ordained in 1971. Richard is from Louisville. He has previously served as an elder in other Presbyterian churches. He senses a void without searching for God. Richard worked in law and is semi-retired. Reading and gardening provide enjoyment. His wife, Doris also enjoys gardening.

Cheryl Van Daalen


Email Cheryl Van Daalen

Mission Ministry Team, class of 2011, ordained in 2008. Cheryl grew up in Anchorage, Alaska. Springdale is the first church in which Cheryl has ever held membership. She and her husband joined Springdale in 1990. “I feel we should all follow Christ’s call to us to help our fellow human beings in practical ways when help is needed,” she said. Cheryl, a homemaker, works closely with Kentucky Refugee Ministries to plan and help others. Her daughter is a college student. Her husband, Jim, is a cardiothoracic surgeon. Cheryl enjoys reading, sewing and gardening. They have a Border Collie dog, Bilbo.
